Benefit supports local arts and South Sudan orphanageMishawaka, IN—The Vineyard Church is hosting the seventh annual “Art for the Heart of Africa” benefit on Friday, October 23, from 6:30pm – 9:00pm, an evening devoted to honoring God’s gift of artistry through music, art, and a benefit auction. The benefit will support the New Generation Dreamland Children’s Home (an orphanage in Yei, South Sudan) as it strives to feed, educate and show love to their 130 children orphaned by war, poverty and famine. Every dollar raised will go directly to support this orphanage. The semi-formal event will feature art works from local and regional artists as well as items from the children of South Sudan. In the past six years, Art for the Heart of Africa has raised more than $180,000. These funds have provided running water and solar electricity to the orphanage; built and supplied a medical clinic for children; began a goat farm that provided both income and nutrition for the Dreamland; built and furnished housing options for the children; put a roof on a school; started a (now) 35-acre farm to provide food for the orphanage and to sell in the local village; purchased a dump truck to transport crops (and children!); and constructed a new bridge. In 2015, our goal of $25,000 will continue to improve the living conditions and education of the children of the A team of seven men and women from The Vineyard Church recently returned from South Sudan. Among other projects, the team completed an art project with the children from Dreamland which will be featured at the benefit. In addition to the children’s art, the event will feature work from 70-75 local and regional artists. Items will be sold through silent and live auctions throughout the evening. For more information or to see the growing list of artists and their works, please see the Art for the Heart of Africa website, www.artfortheheartofafrica.org. ### Photos, video and interviews available upon request.
