Our goals not only include supporting the Dreamland Children's Home in South Sudan, and honoring God, but also honoring artists and artistry. This year, we will do that by having artists creating art at the benefit. We are still finalizing details, but have been able to confirm that Joel Schoon Tanis, a contributor to our live auction for the last three years, will be creating a painting during the event that will be auctioned off during the live auction part of our evening.
Joel is a celebrated painter, illustrator, and television producer/creator who has shown his work around the United States — from Michigan to Florida to Colorado to Washington D.C.. Joel has also shown his work as far away as Kenya where he did an art show in Nairobi to raise money for the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife. His murals can be found in many schools, children’s hospitals and churches (including murals in both Kenya and Zambia). You can check him out at this website: http://opendoorstudio.org/.
We are VERY excited about this new element to Art for the Heart of Africa and cannot wait for you to experience art in action!
